Winnie Nankya

Winnie is an Associate in the firm and her practice focus is in the Employment department. Winnie undertakes a broad range of contentious and non-contentious work for a wide range of clients. Winnie is an accomplished advocate and has conducted a number of employment tribunal claims, including unfair and constructive dismissal, breach of contract, occupational safety and health, collective bargaining and labor contract administration, early retirement programs, workforce restructuring, as well as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and sales of businesses.

Winnie's other work includes drafting contracts and policies, advising on redundancy and restructuring exercises, TUPE transfers and outsourcing arrangements, providing information and advice on employment best practice, advising in relation to the employment aspects of corporate transactions, negotiating compromise agreements for employers or senior executives and advising on executive terminations.

Winnie provides training as part of the Employment department’s briefing series and delivers in-house training programmes for senior managers and human resources professionals in the public and private sectors. She also has vast experience in handling litigation matters arising from employment and labour related disputes.

Winnie was selected after a competitive process to participant in the International Youth and Crime Prevention Summit in South Africa, ICC Durban in 2007. Before joining us she worked with Mwandha, Wabwire & Muwanga Advocates as a Legal Assistant. She holds a Bachelors Degree from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre (LDC). She is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African law society.
